Yinson Production opens Shanghai office to bolster offshore project execution
Yinson Production has opened an office in Shanghai to strengthen coordination with Chinese shipyards, fabricators, suppliers and technology providers supporting its global FPSO and FSO portfolio. The company said the presence would improve project execution and client responsiveness as its offshore developments increase in scale and complexity.
Yinson Production has established an office in Shanghai, expanding its presence in a major offshore engineering and fabrication center as it seeks closer coordination with the Chinese supply chain.
The office will support collaboration with shipyards, suppliers, fabrication partners and technology providers involved in the company’s global projects and operations. Chief Executive Officer Flemming Guiducci Grønnegaard said closer engagement in China had become increasingly important as Yinson Production’s projects grew larger and more complex and clients demanded faster delivery, digital integration, lower emissions and greater efficiency.
Yinson Production said its involvement with China’s shipyard ecosystem dates to around 2014, when partial work and support were linked to FPSO John Agyekum Kufuor. It cited subsequent collaboration with COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry yards in Shanghai and Qidong, Nantong Strongwind Shipyard, CIMC Raffles, Huarun Dadong Dockyard and Jiangsu Libert INC on fabrication, integration, upgrade, construction and modification work supporting assets across Brazil, West Africa and Vietnam.
The permanent Shanghai presence could give the FPSO owner and operator greater oversight of contractors and suppliers during project delivery. Yinson Production reported a contract backlog of approximately $19.3 billion extending through 2050, although the release did not identify specific projects that will be managed from the new office.
