Petrobras’ P-80 and P-82 near departure for Búzios after Singapore christening
Petrobras and Seatrium held a christening and sailaway ceremony for the P-80 and P-82 production platforms at Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore on August 27, 2026. Final module integration is under way, with the units due to sail for Brazil in the coming weeks and P-80 leaving first.
Production from both platforms is scheduled to begin in 2027 at Búzios, the Santos Basin pre-salt field that Petrobras describes as Brazil’s largest by reserves and output. P-80, also designated Búzios 9, and P-82 will each be able to produce 225,000 barrels of oil and process 12 million cubic metres of gas per day.
Petrobras chief executive Magda Chambriard said the two platforms belong to a cycle of six high-capacity units that began with FPSO Almirante Tamandaré, which is operating at Búzios above its design capacity and has reached record production of 270,000 barrels per day. P-83, P-84 and P-85 will follow P-80 and P-82 and are destined for Búzios, Atapu and Sépia, respectively. Petrobras expects production from all of these units to exceed 225,000 barrels per day.
The company said P-80 and P-82 will use technologies and digital systems for greater operational and energy efficiency. Petrobras contracted their construction under an EPC model, with the contractor responsible for engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning through delivery for operation in Brazil.
Process modules for P-80 were fabricated at Seatrium BrasFELS in Angra dos Reis, while P-82 modules were built at Estaleiro Seatrium Aracruz in Espírito Santo. Petrobras said the Brazilian work helped train workers and generated employment and income through the country’s shipbuilding industry. Construction was also carried out in China, Singapore and Indonesia before the modules were transported to Singapore for final integration.
