Saipem and Jan De Nul sign €11 million Rovuma LNG preliminary-services LOI
Saipem and Jan De Nul have signed a letter of intent covering approximately €11 million of preliminary engineering, procurement and technical services for Rovuma LNG Phase 1 in Mozambique. A potential full subsea EPCI award remains conditional on project sanction and government and regulatory approvals.
Saipem and Jan De Nul have entered an approximately €11 million preliminary-services arrangement for Rovuma LNG Phase 1, signing a letter of intent with ExxonMobil Moçambique Limitada acting on behalf of Mozambique Rovuma Venture. The limited scope covers engineering, procurement and other technical services intended to advance project definition and execution planning.
A final EPCI contract for the consortium is conditional on a positive final investment decision by the Area 4 partners—ENH, CNPC, ENI, KOGAS and XRG—and receipt of the required government and regulatory approvals. These decisions and approvals are expected during 2026, although the potential value and execution schedule for the full EPCI package were not disclosed.
The proposed upstream facilities would deliver gas from 18 subsea wells in offshore Area 4 to the onshore Rovuma LNG liquefaction plant through subsea pipelines and manifolds. Saipem said the consortium's capabilities cover gas-export pipelines, umbilicals, infield flowlines and related shallow- and deepwater infrastructure. If sanctioned, the development could therefore generate a substantial subsea engineering and installation campaign, but the current commitment remains limited to preliminary work rather than a final EPCI award.
