Petrobras’ Búzios Field Reaches Record Oil Output as P-78 and P-79 Ramp Up
Brazil’s Búzios field produced a record average of 1.1 million barrels of oil per day on June 23, 2026, exceeding the one-million-bpd level reached in October 2025. Petrobras said rising output from the P-78 and P-79 FPSOs and the connection of additional wells are supporting the increase. Eight FPSOs are operating at Búzios, while P-80, P-82 and P-83 are under construction and the Búzios 12 unit is in tendering.
Confirmed: The Petrobras-operated Búzios field reached average oil production of 1.1 million bpd on June 23, 2026. Petrobras attributed the current acceleration partly to new well connections and increasing production from P-78 and P-79. Each of those recently arrived FPSOs is ramping toward stated capacity of 180,000 bpd. Búzios currently produces through eight FPSOs: P-74, P-75, P-76, P-77, P-78, P-79, Almirante Barroso and Almirante Tamandaré. Petrobras plans a 12-FPSO production system, with P-80, P-82 and P-83 under construction and Búzios 12 in tendering. Almirante Tamandaré has the highest stated production capacity in Brazil at 270,000 bpd.
Interpretation: The new record indicates that Búzios still has near-term production growth available from units already on station, before the three FPSOs under construction and Búzios 12 enter service. The combination of ongoing ramp-up, well connections and a four-unit forward pipeline makes Búzios a significant continuing source of demand for subsea systems, offshore logistics, maintenance and production-support services. Timing for the remaining FPSOs was not provided, and the extracted asset and consortium relationships remain subject to analyst review rather than database verification.
