INPEX approves share buyback of up to ¥140 billion

INPEX has authorized the repurchase of up to 50 million common shares for a maximum ¥140 billion, citing capital efficiency and shareholder returns. Market purchases are scheduled to run from August 10 through December 31, 2026.

INPEX's board approved the acquisition of up to 50 million common shares, equivalent to 4.3% of issued shares excluding treasury stock. The company set a maximum purchase value of ¥140 billion.

The shares are to be acquired through market purchases on the Tokyo Stock Exchange between August 10 and December 31, 2026. INPEX said the program is intended to improve capital efficiency and enhance shareholder returns.

As of June 30, INPEX reported approximately 1.163 billion issued shares excluding treasury stock and 95.95 million treasury shares. The release did not indicate whether the buyback would affect the company's investment plans or spending on offshore developments.
