Equinor targets six to eight annual NCS tie-backs as it raises 2030 production outlook

Equinor plans to increase production to 2.3 million boe/d by 2030, including 1.35 million boe/d from the Norwegian continental shelf and approximately 950,000 boe/d from its international portfolio. Around 60% of 2028–2030 capital expenditure is expected to go to the NCS, where the company plans six to eight new tie-back developments annually through 2035. Equinor also intends to add USD 1 billion of investment in 2027 for high-return oil and gas projects while limiting power investment to about 10% of capital expenditure.

Confirmed: Equinor has increased its 2030 Norwegian continental shelf production outlook by 100,000 boe/d to 1.35 million boe/d and plans to develop six to eight new tie-back projects annually through 2035. It expects 2028–2030 annual capital expenditure of USD 11–13 billion, allocated approximately 60% to the NCS, 30% to international oil and gas and 10% to power. The company also plans USD 1 billion of additional investment in 2027 for high-return oil and gas projects. International production is targeted to grow by about 30% to approximately 950,000 boe/d by 2030. Equinor’s power outlook includes Empire Wind tax credits in its stated net investment calculation.

Interpretation: The tie-back target provides a sustained demand signal for subsea production systems, SURF installation, inspection and intervention services, and offshore logistics on the NCS. The heavier allocation to oil and gas than power indicates that upstream developments will remain the principal source of near- to medium-term contracting opportunities. However, the announcement does not identify individual tie-back projects, contractors, vessels, platforms, contract awards or sanction dates, so project-level opportunities require further monitoring.
