Equinor awards NOK 6 billion subsea contract package for four Norwegian shelf projects

Equinor, acting on behalf of its partners, has awarded contracts totaling approximately NOK 6 billion for the TWIN, Omega Sør, Tyrihans Nord and Brime subsea developments. TechnipFMC, OneSubsea, Ocean Installer, NOV and Tenaris received scopes covering subsea production systems, umbilicals, pipelines and marine operations. Only TWIN has so far been sanctioned; the other projects remain subject to partnership and regulatory decision processes.

Confirmed: Equinor has placed approximately NOK 6 billion of coordinated contracts for an initial wave of four subsea developments on the Norwegian continental shelf. TechnipFMC will provide subsea production systems for Brime, Omega Sør and Tyrihans Nord and install rigid pipelines at Troll, with Tenaris supplying linepipe. OneSubsea will supply TWIN's subsea production system and umbilicals for all four projects. Ocean Installer received the marine-operations scope, while NOV will supply flexible pipelines for Omega Sør, Tyrihans Nord and Brime. The projects could collectively support 130-220 million barrels of oil-equivalent production.

The commercial commitment precedes final approval for three of the four projects. Equinor says only TWIN has been sanctioned, while Omega Sør, Tyrihans Nord and Brime remain subject to partnership and authority processes. Equipment is being ordered early because of long lead times and may be reassigned to later developments if an initial-wave project does not proceed.

Interpretation: The coordinated procurement strategy creates a sizeable multi-project backlog for major subsea suppliers while limiting project-specific exposure through standardization and equipment transferability. It also signals a broader Norwegian shelf opportunity: Equinor envisages approximately 75 subsea developments through 2035.
